Product Description
Over a 50-year career in music, Hank O'Neal founded two record companies, produced more than 200 jazz albums, published numerous books, and photographed most of the giants of 20th Century jazz. His new book, “More Than The Music,” features wonderful firsthand stories from his life in jazz since the 1950s.
“I’ve picked out thirty-one terribly talented and fascinating music-oriented men and women with whom I had more than a simple working relationship,” Hank writes. “These were people who helped shape my life, some in significant ways.” You’ll find chapters on Dizzy Gillespie, Dave Brubeck, John Coltrane, Astrud Gilberto, Clint Eastwood, Clark Terry, Jimmy & Marian McPartland, Hugh Hefner, Allen Ginsberg, Tony Bennett, Gerry Mulligan, Earl Hines, Milt & Mona Hinton, and more – all colorfully presented alongside Hank’s original photos, with illustrations, posters, record covers and memorabilia from his vast personal collection.
As a Founding Board Member of the Jazz Foundation of America, Hank has graciously provided us with a special quantity of this limited-edition book. All profits we receive from its sale will be given directly to the JFA’s Musicians' Emergency Fund. 355 pages.
