In a relatively short amount of time by jazz standards, Grégoire Maret has become the world's most sought-after harp master. He has recorded and toured with everyone from Pat Metheny, David Sanborn and Herbie Hancock to Bebel Gilberto and Cassandra Wilson - honing a fresh, soulful and highly melodic voice that seamlessly crosses genres and continents.
On his self-titled first album, Maret enlisted the help of many of these friends and stellar musicians to explore and expand his pan-global sound. It's 11 tracks of masterful interpretations and ambitious original compositions. Highlights are his spare and beautiful cover of Stevie Wonder's "The Secret Life of Plants," and the breezy collaboration with legendary harp player Toots Thielman. Throughout, Maret tips his hat to his heroes and firmly grabs the torch. It's a voice we eagerly look forward to hearing in the future.
Grégoire Maret was our Spring 2016 featured artist and we have sold out of our seasonal supply of his CDs, but you can purchase direct from the artist. For more info, click here.
